Shine Your Light

Most mornings I try to spend time with God’s Word. I read a couple of devotionals and reflect on the referenced verses.  This morning two different devotionals seemingly different topics referenced the same scripture Romans 12.

So what jumped out at me was the part that said:

Let them ( our bodies) be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

Well, that leads me to ask, how does that look in my life?  It’s not just about eating right and exercise although it can certainly fit as a form of worship.  I think it’s in how we interact with others. It can be as simple as a smile and good morning or going on a mission trip.

How we interact with this world we live in has to be intentional. Despite the craziness that is thrown at us on a daily basis we still have a choice in how we respond.  There is a lot of negativity in this world but we counter it by staying positive and allowing our light to illuminate the darkness.

I’m a hugger and believe in the power of touch!  A hug, high five fist bump and a pat on the back are other ways we can instill hope, encourage, motivate or connect with others.

I think that at times we over spiritualized the Bible.  Using it to judge, oppress, ostracize and harm others.  I am a follower of the radical Christ! He spent just a few years on earth but his impact and light still shine today through us!

Our ultimate act of worship is in how we use our lives to build relationships and love others!
